Polyphemus Moth Duo Frame

$225.00

This striking Polyphemus Moth duo is showcased in a vintage, upcycled frame with ornate filigree details and surrounded by locally foraged and dried botanicals. This frame has a convenient hanging wire on the back for easy hanging. The frame has outside measurements of 16”H x 13”W

Fun Polyphemus Facts:

  • The name Polyphemus comes from Greek mythology — the one-eyed giant — because of the moth’s huge, single “eye” spots on each hindwing that look like staring eyes meant to scare off predators.

  • Once they emerge from their cocoons, Polyphemus moths don’t have mouths or digestive systems. They live only about 4–5 days — just long enough to find a mate and lay eggs.

A great piece for fans of natural history, lovers of gothic glamour, or anyone who appreciates beauty with a little edge.

Please note: This piece features an upcycled, thrifted frame. Minor imperfections on the frame or glass may be present due to age and character. All pieces are carefully cleaned and repaired while preserving their vintage character.
