Wish You Were Here: The Art of Sandy Island

Find my piece, “Ratchook of Sandy Island” on display from January 9-February 20

"Wish You Were Here: The Art of Sandy Island" is a captivating art exhibition featuring South Carolina artists exploring "phantom islands," inspired by the mythical Sandy Island that appeared on maps for centuries, running January 9 - February 20, 2026, at Richland Library Main in Columbia, SC, challenging reality vs. imagination through various mediums. Hosted by Soda City Creatives and One Columbia, the project ran a successful call for entries in 2025, showcasing how artists envision places that don't exist.

This unique exhibition invites viewers and creators to engage with the idea of imaginary places, bridging the gap between what's real and what we can dream up, much like the centuries-long presence of Sandy Island on charts from the National Geographic Society to Google Maps.

  • Artists: 22 South Carolina artists across various mediums.

  • Exhibition Dates: January 9 – February 20, 2026.

  • Location: Richland Library Main, Downtown Columbia, SC.

  • Organizers: Soda City Creatives and One Columbia.
